"No fear that men's revenge might arrive someday-
now all your necks are in the noose- your doom is sealed!"
[The Odyssey, Book 22 Lines 41-42]
They had been trash talking, and beating us for so many years. We wanted to get revenge, and wanted to win. And them, they thought there was no way that would happen. Soon enough, there was not much time left in the second half, and they were still beating us, still trash talking. But we got a break away, our fast Forward went to the races with their defense men and won. He was in the box, about to score. Soon he fell down, and the whistle blew. They had given up a penalty kick, and who else would be the taker of it except for me. I knew I needed to score this, we needed to get our revenge. I took the kick, the ball soared up into the top left corner, they goalie had no chance to save it. It was tied 1-1 but our revenge was not done yet. Soon enough there was only 5 minutes left in the game, we crossed the ball in from a free kick, a volley was hit, but it went off the bar, the ball was bouncing around, and soon enough it went to one of our strikers heads, and he put it in the back of the net. The other team was shocked, we finally got our revenge.
What I took from this moment, is not only that our team had the heart and will to comeback and win that game, but mostly how our rivals, were sure they were going to win. They were not expecting our revenge, they thought it would not happen. They were sure that they had the win, and that it would soon be 18 years in a row that they had beat us, but we were not going to let that happen. What this taught me is to never get ahead of yourself, do not believe you will win, or do the best, because if you are too cocky, nothing will go your way.
